Acrylic, or Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA), is a transparent thermoplastic known as "organic glass." With 92% light transmittance (higher than glass), it offers 10x the impact resistance while being half the weight. Key properties include:
Weather resistance (stable from -40°C to 80°C)
Easily machined (laser-cut, thermoformed, or injection-molded)
UV transparency (>75% UV transmission)
Safety (shatters without sharp fragments)
Common uses: signage, automotive lights, displays, medical devices, and optical lenses. Compared to polycarbonate (PC), PMMA has better scratch resistance but lower impact strength. Major producers include Mitsubishi Chemical and Evonik.
Acrylic processing technology, generally including sheet cutting (involving acrylic saws), edge polishing (involving acrylic polishing machine), acrylic chamfering (involving acrylic trimming machine), acrylic bending (involving acrylic bending machine) and so on.
